Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 7: As part of the District Administration’s ongoing efforts to safeguard Government land and ensure its proper utilization, an encroachment drive was conducted yesterday at Atam Pahar, Garacharma Village.
During the operation, the revenue team identified encroachments spread across approximately 5,000 square metres of prime government land recorded under government Khata. The encroachments in the form of 08 temporary residential structures along with multiple unauthorized fencing, which had been illegally erected over the land.
To ensure the smooth execution of the drive, heavy machinery, including a Hitachi excavator, was deployed for the demolition and clearance activities. The encroached structures were systematically dismantled, and the area was cleared of all unauthorized occupations. The encroached area was promptly restored to its original status, reaffirming the Administration’s commitment to protecting public land and preventing unauthorized occupation.
The District Administration reiterates its firm commitment to act against illegal encroachments and appeals to the general public to refrain from occupying government land without proper authorization. Citizens have been encouraged to cooperate with the District Administration in preserving public resources and maintaining the rule of law. The District Administration, South Andaman reiterates that such operations will continue unabated in all areas where illegal occupation is identified.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman cautioned the general public that the District Administration has zero tolerance towards encroachment on Government land and uphold the rule of law.
