National rail contractor QTS Group a leading UK railway contractor with thirteen offices across the UK, including Linby, Leeds, Preston and Penrith has announced a large recruitment drive in Penrith.
Offering several early career opportunities, QTS Group’s latest jobs aim to equip young people with the skills and knowledge needed to forge careers in the rail industry.
The opportunities sit across multiple fields and disciplines, including engineering, project management, administration, and specialist technical roles.
Vacancies include civil engineers, project managers, quantity surveyors, HGV fitters and administration staff.
Successful applicants could benefit from developing careers within a growing and inclusive organisation, supporting by the firm’s designated training subsidiary, QTS Training.
The move forms part of QTS Group’s wider plans to reduce the industry’s skills gap, which is currently facing constraints thanks to ageing workforces and lack of talent entering the sector.
To tackle this, the rail business has launched a range of apprenticeship and trainee roles designed specifically for young people to gain hands-on experience and access continuous learning.
Alongside Penrith, positions are also available in Preston, Manchester, Leeds, Derby and Strathaven.
Sara Crosby, HR Director at QTS says: “We are passionate about investing in the next generation of rail professionals at QTS Group. The opportunities we are providing offer young people a gateway into an industry full of variety, with long-term prospects.
“What’s more, we are committed to supporting these individuals with the training and experience needed to take full advantage of the opportunities available. We encourage school leavers, college students, and anyone looking to begin their career journey to consider applying.
“It’s a win-win for all involved, helping individuals to build thriving careers, while also building a skilled, diverse workforce that is fit for the UK’s future needs.”
QTS Group has a demonstrated history of engaging with young people across the UK to promote rail careers. The firm hosts its very own Future of Rail event annually, as well as running a Rail Skills Academy and delivering sessions in schools.
Applications are now open, and interested candidates are encouraged to apply early to secure their place.
