Plymouth Boy Scout Troop stranded in the Caribbean Sea after Hurricane Erin

ST. THOMAS ISLAND, USVI. (WBAY) – The leaders of Boy Scout Troop 851 are calling on the community for help after being stranded on St. Thomas Island due to Hurricane Erin.

The Plymouth natives reportedly arrived on the island, located in the Caribbean Sea, back on August 10th.

The troop’s leader, Ryan Schroeder, says they were pulled off their sailboat on Thursday due to the incoming storm and are now looking for alternatives to get back to the U.S.

In a Facebook post, Schroeder says the earliest their flight could take off is this coming Friday or Saturday, but that there are adults in the group in need of medications, and kids who just want to get back home. A GoFundMe has been started to try and raise enough money for somewhere to stay, or even a private plane, if they can find one.
