The MLB playoff picture is continuing to take shape as the 2025 season winds down.
This week closed out with the New York Mets defeating the Seattle Mariners 7-3 in an interleague matchup on Sunday Night Baseball.
Let’s take a look at the updated playoff standings after another exciting week of action.
Projected AL Playoff Bracket – Wild Card Round
Projected NL Playoff Bracket – Wild Card Round
The Milwaukee Brewers have been the gold standard of MLB this season, but they had their 14-game win streak snapped on Sunday in a 3-2 loss to the Cincinnati Reds on a walk-off RBI single by Austin Hays.
Still, Milwaukee’s status as the best team in MLB remains unchanged, much like the teams currently in a position for a playoff spot. The top six teams in both the American and National Leagues are the same from last week, but there’s still some drama heading into the home stretch of the 2025 season.
In the American League, the Toronto Blue Jays are clinging to a half-game lead over the Detroit Tigers for first place. The Houston Astros are also just 1.5 games ahead of the Mariners for first place in the AL West.
A three-game losing streak by the Cleveland Guardians created some much-needed separation for the New York Yankees, who are riding a three-game win streak as they hold onto the third and final AL wild-card spot.
The Reds slightly closed the gap on the Mets for the final NL wild-card spot, but the real excitement is in the playoff seeding. The Philadelphia Phillies, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs and San Diego Padres are all within two games of each other in the loss column.
It all creates an exciting slate over the next few weeks as the playoff race heats up and the 2025 MLB season nears its end.
