NEW PHILADELPHIA, Ohio — Governor Mike DeWine joined local leaders, educators, and students on Friday to celebrate the completion of a $6 million expansion project at the Buckeye Career Center.
The project adds 13,000 square feet of new instructional space and labs dedicated to nursing, pharmacy, and medical assistant programs, providing students with hands-on training opportunities.
“We need more young people going into these professions and this is what this is accomplishing. It’s also so very important that young people find something they get excited about in these students are very excited about what they’re doing,” said Governor DeWine.
The governor said the investment aims to create opportunities for students to graduate with the skills necessary to pursue their dream careers, thereby ensuring Ohio’s workforce is prepared for the future.
“Some of these students will go to college, some will go to additional schooling, but the good thing is they can kind of stack that one thing on top of the other so they will be able to come out of here and get a job but if they wanna continue in advance they can do that as well,” he said.
The expansion was funded with $2.8 million in state funds and $3.1 million in local contributions.
