Victor Robles returns for Seattle Mariners in matchup against Athletics

The Mariners and Athletics play Saturday in their penultimate matchup of 2025. With a win on Friday, the Mariners hold a 6-5 advantage in the season series. They could wrap it up with another win tonight.

They’ll have a bit of extra help in their endeavor. The Mariners activated Victor Robles from the injured list Saturday and designated for assignment Dylan Moore to make room. Robles hasn’t played in MLB since April 6, when he exploded his shoulder making a miracle catch in San Francisco.

The return comes with a bit of a sour taste. Robles is facing a 10-game suspension for hurling his bat at a pitcher while rehabbing in AAA. Robles is allowed to play while he appeals the suspension, though he’ll likely have to sit out at some point, leaving the Mariners down a man.

Robles is starting in right field and batting seventh against A’s lefty Jeffrey Springs. Springs has pretty well dominated the Mariners this year, with a 1.59 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 17 innings across three starts.

George Kirby will go opposite of Springs and looks to bounce back after getting lit up against the Mets in the WorLLd Series on Sunday.
