Labor Day is quickly approaching which means the closure of several services and locations for the federal holiday.
Although many places will be closed, there are plenty of fun things to enjoy around Louisville, including concerts, festivals and other activities. Here’s what to know about Labor Day.
When is Labor Day 2025?
Labor Day falls on Monday, Sept. 1, 2025. The holiday is observed on the first Monday in September each year, the U.S. Department of Labor says.
Are government buildings open on Labor Day 2025?
State, local and federal offices will be closed.
Is mail delivered on Labor Day?
No mail will be delivered Monday, Sept. 1. The United States Postal Service is closed.
UPS and FedEx are also closed.
Are banks open on Labor Day?
Banks will be closed on Sept. 1.
Are grocery stores closed for 2025 Labor Day?
Most grocery stores, and other retailers like Target and Walmart, are open on Labor Day. Some stores like Costco, however, are closed.
Are Louisville libraries open on Labor Day?
Louisville library branches will be closed on Labor Day, according to the holiday schedule.
Is TARC operating on Labor Day?
Spokesperson Alex Posorske said TARC will be operating on a Sunday schedule for Labor Day. Transit Authority River City offices and the customer care line will be closed and the TARC3 Reservations Line will be open from 8 a.m. to noon.
Is the Louisville Zoo open on Labor Day?
Louisville Zoo spokesperson Kyle Shepherd said the zoo is open as usual on Labor Day from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Visitors must exit by 6 p.m.
