The Education Development Fund (EDF), affiliated with the cabinet, announced the launch of 50 fully funded training scholarships for the families and children of martyrs who are secondary school and university students, as well as recent graduates, as part of efforts to support them and equip them with skills needed to compete in the global labor market.
The scholarships include international technology certifications from Cisco, along with grants for international foreign-language proficiency exams, aimed at improving beneficiaries’ chances of securing competitive jobs both in Egypt and abroad.
Secretary-General of the EDF Rasha Saad Sharaf said the initiative recognizes the sacrifices made by martyrs and their families and reflects the state’s commitment to supporting their children through educational and training opportunities that expand prospects in the international job market.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, Sharaf noted that the EDF seeks to ensure that the scholarships have a tangible impact on beneficiaries’ futures by qualifying them for internationally recognized certifications, while also strengthening their linguistic, cultural, and life skills to help them integrate into global work environments.
She added that the scholarships are provided through the International Labor Market Observatory, which is one of the EDF’s key initiatives aimed at preparing Egyptian youth for global jobs. The observatory studies international labor market needs and tracks the gap between the specializations offered by higher, technical, and vocational education institutions in Egypt and the demands of global markets.
She said that these efforts contribute to producing a workforce qualified to operate in international markets, helping attract foreign investment, increase foreign currency inflows and strengthen the global standing of Egyptian professionals across various sectors.
