A new special edition brings sharper looks to Toyota’s hybrid sedan

The Toyota Camry may no longer be the huge success story it used to be since today the world is obsessed with SUVs and crossovers, yet it still stands as one of the most popular cars globally, with 593,000 units sold in 2024. Looking to keep the momentum going and draw in fresh buyers, the Japanese brand rolled out the Camry Sprint Edition in India, built on the hybrid sedan platform.

The special edition is a product of Toyota Kirloskar Motor, a local joint venture between Toyota and the Kirloskar Group that is responsible for sales and production of the automaker’s cars in India. It features a unique livery and select dealer-installed accessories, adding a sportier flair to an otherwise plain vanilla mid-size sedan.
Distinctive Two-Tone Style
The Camry Sprint Edition’s most eye-catching feature is the Matte Black treatment for the hood, roof, pillars, and trunk, creating a dramatic two-tone look. Buyers can pair this finish with one of five body colors: Emotional Red, Platinum White Pearl, Cement Grey, Precious Metal, or Dark Blue Metallic.
New black alloy wheels and a bodykit complete the exterior changes. The kit introduces sharper bumper extensions front and rear, along with a lip spoiler at the back. So far Toyota has only released one official image, leaving it unclear whether these aero parts match those of last year’s Camry Glorious Edition sold in China.
Same Hybrid Powertrain
Unfortunately, the Sprint Edition doesn’t carry any performance or chassis modifications over the standard Camry Hybrid. Power still comes from a 2.5-liter hybrid setup, delivering a combined 227 hp (169 kW / 230 PS) and 221 Nm (163 lb-ft) of torque. Unlike the US-spec model that can be ordered with all-wheel drive, the Indian version is offered exclusively with front-wheel drive.

Like many special editions, the Sprint focuses on equipment as much as styling. Standard features include a digital cockpit with dual 12.3-inch displays, a 360-degree Panoramic View Monitor, a 10-way power driver’s seat with lumbar support, ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a head-up display, and Toyota’s Safety Sense 3.0 ADAS suite.
The Camry Hybrid Sprint Edition is already available to order in India, where it is priced at ₹48.50 lakh (equal to around US$55,500). Interestingly, this is identical to the cost of the Hybrid Elegant trim, which remains the only other choice listed in the online configurator. Both variants are produced at Toyota Kirloskar Motor’s Bidadi plant exclusively for the local market.
