Women's Volleyball Blanks Susquehanna, 3-0

New York, N.Y. – The Stevens Institute of Technology women’s volleyball team turned in a dominant performance Friday evening, sweeping Susquehanna University in straight sets at the NYU Invitational.

The Ducks (3-1) took down the River Hawks 25-10, 25-21, 25-15 in their first of three matches on the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Stevens set the tone immediately in the opening frame, racing out to a 10-1 lead behind the serving of Sarah Bolduc, who delivered two early aces, along with kills from Ella Kraver and Eva Tarolli. The Ducks’ front line quickly asserted itself, with Ella Boland and Tarolli teaming up for a block to stall Susquehanna’s attack. Bolduc added another ace and several kills to extend the margin, while Molly Harris and Ava Stewart chipped in with aces during the middle stages. A Boland kill off an Alexa Brucculeri set closed the set, 25-10.

The second set proved to be the tightest of the match, as Susquehanna used a pair of service aces to build a 20-15 lead. Facing their first test of the evening, the Ducks responded with poise, rattling off 10 of the final 11 points. Bolduc again sparked the rally with two aces and multiple kills, while Boland added a pair of timely finishes. The Ducks’ block forced critical errors, and Brucculeri spread the offense effectively. Back-to-back kills from Boland and Tarolli capped the comeback, sealing a 25-21 win and a two-set advantage.

Riding the momentum, Stevens left little doubt in the decisive third. Vivian Lisboa entered and made an immediate impact, piling up kills, an ace, and forcing several River Hawk miscues as the Ducks surged to a commanding 12-0 lead. Bolduc and Tarolli continued to pace the attack, while Mallory Eder and Liz Pederson contributed with well-placed swings. Though Susquehanna managed a brief rally behind two aces, Stevens quickly regained control. With Brucculeri steady in distribution, the Ducks marched to match point, and a Tarolli-Boland block sealed the sweep, 25-15.
