Trump is talking about Musk again — but not inviting him to the White House

Is the feud reigniting between Donald Trump and Elon Musk? The former president has recently commented on the Tesla CEO, seemingly softening his stance after previous heated exchanges earlier this summer, which impacted Tesla’s stock performance. Are they back to fighting?

In an interview on “The Scott Jennings Show,” a conservative talk radio program aired yesterday, Trump characterized Musk as “80% super genius, and then 20% hes got some problems.”

Trump stated, “I always liked him. I like him now. But he went off the reservation and he wished he didnt do it,” describing Musk as “a man of common sense.” He also speculated that Musk might rejoin the Republican Party after the failure of his proposed third party, the America Party, to gain traction. The America Party didn’t get off the ground.

This contrasts with Trump’s previous public remarks about Musk, in which he called him a “TRAIN WRECK” who had gone completely “off the rails.”

Adding to the potential tension, The Hill reported that Musk was notably absent from a White House dinner for leading tech executives held in the Rose Garden on Thursday. Attendees included Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, Apple’s Tim Cook, Google’s Sundar Pichai, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella, and OpenAI’s Sam Altman. Musk, a former advisor to the White House, was not invited.

It remains to be seen whether Musk will respond to Trump’s latest comments or the White House snub. As of 9:45 a.m. ET, he had not yet addressed the situation on X.
