As New Jersey starts another school year, the chances for high school seniors to take the SAT exam before applying to colleges are dwindling.

Statewide, high school student scored an average of 1,049 on the SAT exam, with a 519 on the math portion and a 530 on the reading and writing portion, according to state data.
