With his WWE contract reportedly set to expire in a matter of days, a major update has emerged on the status of Karrion Kross. According to a new report, the former NXT Champion has now been offered a new contract by the company.

Speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer clarified the evolving situation. He suggested that, despite the uncertainty, he does not expect Kross and his wife, Scarlett, to be leaving WWE.

A Last-Minute Offer

Meltzer confirmed that previous reports about Kross not having a new deal were likely accurate at the time. However, the situation has now changed, with an offer being made as the deadline approaches.

“I was told the story about him not being signed to a contract. I heard that is legit, but that he did get an offer,” Meltzer explained. “I was told he’s gotten an offer, and I don’t expect him to go anywhere.”

This last-minute development comes after weeks of intense fan speculation about the duo’s future.

A Familiar Storyline?

Meltzer also suggested that WWE may be intentionally turning Kross’s real-life contract negotiation into a storyline. He drew a parallel to the recent situation with R-Truth, whose reported contract non-renewal led to a massive fan outcry before he was brought back in a major angle, revealing the entire situation was a “work.”

“The amount of distrust that will be there six months from now is gonna be pretty damn high,” Meltzer cautioned, noting that repeatedly blurring the lines between real contract news and storylines could impact media credibility.

A Career Of Highs and Lows

Karrion Kross’s WWE journey has been a rollercoaster. He was a dominant, two-time NXT Champion before a disastrous initial main roster call-up saw him stripped of his character and released in 2021. He was brought back by the new creative regime in 2022, but his second main roster run has been marked by inconsistent booking.

This inconsistency is what fueled the recent “We Want Kross” fan movement, which led to a higher-profile role for him.

Powerful Allies

Despite his up-and-down booking, Kross has powerful supporters backstage. He has long been considered a “Triple H guy,” and he recently received the strongest possible endorsement from Paul Heyman. On The Ariel Helwani Show, Heyman compared the organic fan support for Kross to the movements that propelled legends like Steve Austin, Daniel Bryan, and CM Punk to superstardom. With that level of backing, it seems a new deal was always the likely outcome.
