Apple is poised for its highly anticipated product launch event, scheduled for Tuesday, September 9. This gathering will unveil the next-generation iPhone lineup, innovative smartwatches, and an array of peripherals.
Insights from Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman indicate that this latest suite of products is crucial for Apple to counteract escalating competition from giants such as Samsung Electronics, Alphabet Inc., Google, and prominent Chinese manufacturers like Huawei Technologies and Xiaomi Corp.
Gurman further notes that Apple has lagged in the generative artificial intelligence arena. The newly introduced iOS 26 operating system, revealed in June, exhibits a dearth of significant AI enhancements. Consequently, the company is banking on hardware innovations to maintain customer loyalty within its product ecosystem.
In an exciting development, Apple will implement substantial design overhauls for the iPhone for the first time in five years. The new flagship models, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, will showcase redesigned backs that elevate the aesthetics of the camera sections. Additionally, an entirely new iPhone Air with an ultrathin profile is anticipated.
Comprehensive List of Upcoming Devices:
During this launch, Apple will present four new iPhone variants. Notably, the company will forgo the unveiling of a budget edition, following the earlier release of the SE model.
Among the most eagerly awaited devices is the iPhone Air. Gurman reports that this model will measure a mere 5.5mm in thickness, nearly a third slimmer than the iPhone 16 Pro, signifying a considerable reduction in both dimensions and weight.

However, this slimmed-down design incurs certain trade-offs, including diminished battery longevity and the limitation of a single rear camera. Sources suggest that Apple plans to introduce a new battery case to enhance the phone’s power capacity.
The iPhone 17 Air will be equipped with the same A19 processor that powers the iPhone 17, featuring a 6.6-inch display, a USB-C port, ProMotion support, and eSIM-only capability due to its slender form factor. It will also incorporate Apple’s proprietary Wi-Fi chip and the C1 modem, previously utilized in the iPhone 16e.
The iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will revert to an aluminum frame, replacing the titanium used in the iPhone 15 Pro, thereby improving heat dissipation and creating a lighter device. The base iPhone 17 will maintain its existing design but will boast a slightly enlarged 6.3-inch screen, aligning with both the iPhone 16 Pro and 17 Pro.
Additional enhancements include a new chip, a ProMotion display for the standard version, and Qualcomm modems for both the base and Pro models. Furthermore, Apple is unveiling new accessories, consisting of a redesigned non-leather case, an iPhone 4 Bumper-inspired case, and an upscale cross-body strap.
Apple Watch Series 11
This year, Apple plans extensive updates across its wearables and audio segments. The Apple Watch Ultra 3 is set to feature a larger display, the new S11 chip, support for 5G Redcap, and capabilities for satellite text messaging and emergencies. Enhanced brightness will be a primary goal of this upgrade, although the design will remain unchanged.

The more economical Apple Watch SE will also receive a speedier chip and a new display. Health-related advancements, including hypertension detection, are in development, along with a subscription-based Health+ service expected next year.
Additionally, Apple is gearing up to launch the AirPods Pro 3, which will include a heart rate monitor and a more compact charging case, alongside a new live translation feature for the AirPods.
