LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) – As Laredo’s hospitality sector continues to grow, Laredo College is partnering with the City of Laredo Economic Department to expand opportunities for the community.
Laredo College announced a new hospitality certificate program due to the rising demand in the hotel, restaurant and customer service industries.
This new program will help advance economic growth by training a workforce that specializes in hospitality and tourism.
“We are proud to launch the new Hospitality Certificate Program made possible with the support of the City of Laredo Economic Development Department,” LC Continuing Education Director Brenda Martinez said. “This initiative will open doors for individuals seeking to gain valuable skills and certifications in hotel and restaurant operations, while also strengthening our local workforce. By preparing participants for in-demand careers, we are not only supporting economic growth in our community but also creating new opportunities for individuals and families to thrive in the hospitality industry.”
Starting on Tuesday, September 16, the program lasts 10 weeks and trains students in areas such as hospitality and restaurant management, hospitality HR and supervision, customer service, and food manager certification.
Participants will also develop leadership, operations and human resource skills, along with guest services, qualities looked for by employers in the hospitality industry.
