The NFL preseason is officially over, and the next step for teams is to cut down their rosters to 53 players by 4 p.m. ET on Tuesday.

Teams have already been cutting players throughout camp, especially over the last few days, in anticipation of the deadline. We’ll keep track of the most notable cuts right here, and here’s a comprehensive list of every cut made.
Notable NFL roster cut candidates
Browns QB Shedeur Sanders
The Browns have long said they’re going to keep four QBs on the roster, but Sanders is, after all, a fifth-round pick, and Day 3 picks are no guarantee to make it. Plus, fellow rookie Dillon Gabriel has outplayed Sanders this preseason and gotten reps before Sanders in practice. There’s also veteran Kenny Pickett, who didn’t take a snap all preseason due to injury but will almost certainly make the team as well. Sanders probably makes it, but the chances of a cut are not zero.

Patriots WRs Javon Baker, Kendrick Bourne or Ja’Lynn Polk
New England knew it needed to address its subpar wide receiver room, so it added Stefon Diggs and Mack Hollins in free agency and drafted Kyle Williams in the third round. That means some receivers will likely be squeezed out during roster cuts. Baker disappointed as a rookie fourth-rounder last season, as did Polk, who could now be out for the year after shoulder surgery. Kendrick Bourne, meanwhile, is a solid veteran presence whose lack of production could be a determining factor.
Browns WR Diontae Johnson
When Cleveland took a risk in signing wide receiver Isaiah Bond, it might have been the writing on the wall for Johnson, who’s now on his fifth team since 2023.

Giants QB Tommy DeVito
It sure looks like the Giants are going to roster Russell Wilson, Jaxson Dart and Jameis Winston as their quarterbacks, which could spell the end of the folk hero DeVito, who’s had eight career starts but not demonstrated a high ceiling.
Falcons CB C.J. Henderson
The ninth overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft has failed to catch on with any of his four previous teams, and was only signed Aug. 14 and might just be a camp body in Atlanta.
