Sheep Esports - LoL: CTBC Flying Oyster achieve 20-series winning streak in LCP

CTBC Flying Oyster haven’t lost in the LCP since February — over six months ago.

CTBC Flying Oyster secured themselves the first seed for the Season Finals Playoffs with a 2-0 victory over GAM Esports in Phase 2 of the Contender Group. The win marked CFO’s 20th straight series in the League of Legends Championship Pacific (LCP), a streak that began on February 14 with a triumphant win against TALON during the Season Kickoff tournament. A week earlier, the Taiwanese squad was handed their most recent domestic loss: a 2-1 defeat at the hands Team Secret Whales. For six months, their domestic dominance has been unquestionable.

If CFO hadn’t lost that series to TSW, they could have completed a perfect year without dropping a single series in the LCP. Regardless, with one more BO3 to play, CFO is only two BO5s away from claiming the LCP Summer Split trophy and representing the region at Worlds 2025 as first seed. If they can follow through, they’d be the first-ever team to represent their region at all three Riot-operated international tournaments, as they were the only First Stand team to qualify for MSI.

On top of that, CFO is one of the few teams in the world to successfully operate a six-player roster, with Shen “Driver” Tsung-Hua and Hsu “Rest” Shih-Chieh rotating in the toplane.

Encouraging international appearances

CTBC Flying Oyster’s success hasn’t been limited to domestic play. At the Kickoff Qualifying Series, they defeated GAM, MGN Vikings Esports, and eventually TALON in the grand final to secure a spot at First Stand, Riot Games’ new international event held earlier this year at LoL Park in Seoul between winners of the five major regions.

In Seoul, CFO stunned the world by advancing from the group stage with only one loss to Hanwha Life Esports. The Taiwanese giant-slayers took down Top Esports, Team Liquid, and Karmine Corp.

Their run may have ended in the semifinals against KC, but CFO had already won fans over with their strong performances, entertaining playstyle, victory dances, and compelling storylines. At just 17, Tsai “HongQ” Ming-Hong was holding his own against some of the best veterans in the world, while back in the Pacific, Chiu “Doggo” Tzu-Chuan and Yu “JunJia” Chun-Chia were determined to cement their reputations as international-class players. They delivered on that promise.

Returning to the LCP, CFO have remained untouchable. They completed a flawless Mid Season regular split at 7-0, dropping only two games in total. In playoffs, they narrowly avoided elimination in the Upper Bracket Final with a 3-2 reverse sweep over TALON before defeating GAM in another five game series. With the win, CFO secured back-to-back domestic titles and earned their ticket to the Mid-Season Invitational in Vancouver.

An MSI to confirm

Their opening series at MSI was against reigning two-time World Champions T1, where CFO pushed the reigning world champions to the limit — falling 3-2 as the world watched with bated breath. They then bounced back in the lower bracket, finding a dominant win over LEC champions Movistar KOI, before bowing out against LPL’s Anyone’s Legend. It was another respectable international showing, proving their First Stand run was no fluke and reshaping perceptions of regional strength — with the Pacific holding on longer than Europe and matching North America’s FlyQuest.

Back in Taipei for the Summer Split, CFO have played five BO3s so far against the Pacific’s top teams in the Contender Group. They’ve won them all. Summer’s 12 competitive games were splsit evenly between Driver and Rest, seeding CFO directly into Round 2 of playoffs and putting them just one BO3 win away from locking their spot at Worlds 2025, set to take place in China from October 14 to November 9.

Their decisive BO3 is set for September 6, with the bracket continuing all the way to the Finals in Da Nang, Vietnam, where the LCP will crown its Summer champion.
