Detroit Tigers: Kerry Carpenter’s impact. What about lefties?
On “Days of Roar,” Evan Petzold and Chris Castellani debate if Detroit Tigers slugger Kerry Carpenter needs more at-bats vs. left-handed pitchers.
It’s a big game for the Detroit Tigers tonight, but first pitch had to wait.
Game 2 of the Tigers-Astros series on Tuesday, Aug. 19 entered a rain delay before first pitch and ended up starting at 7:15 p.m.
The Tigers play the second game of a three-game set against the Houston Astros with a matchup of Tigers’ ace Tarik Skubal against Astros’ ace Hunter Brown.
The game is broadcasted as usual on FanDuel Sports Network Detroit, with a national audience able to watch it on TBS.
Skubal leads all MLB pitchers in fWAR with 5.5, while Brown is currently sixth with 4.0. According to BetMGM, Skubal is the favorite to win the American League Cy Young Award (-250), while Brown has the seventh-best odds among AL pitchers (+1800).
The series continues to have big playoff implications. Should the Tigers sweep the series, they will take the season series against the Astros and earn the first tiebreaker against the Astros if both teams finish with the same record at the end of the season.
